As part of NC Chocolatier’s broader packaging system, I designed the signature packaging for the brand’s hand-painted chocolate line. The product required a different approach from the standard cavity-style inserts commonly used for boxed chocolates. Each piece was painted by hand and finished with a high-gloss surface, so the packaging needed to protect the chocolates while giving them a more elevated presentation.

I designed an insert that raised the chocolates to the lip of the bottom box, bringing the product closer to the customer the moment the lid is removed. The result feels more like a platter than a traditional candy box, allowing the chocolates to be viewed as a full composition rather than as individual pieces set into cavities.

This structure also improved the customer experience. The chocolates remain secure during delivery, but are easier to see, access, and remove without the obstruction of deep insert walls. The presentation and accent colors emphasise the hand-painted quality of each piece while preserving the presentation expected from a luxury chocolate box.

Following the successful launch of the 12-piece box, the system was expanded into a 24-piece format, along with two- and six-piece slide-out boxes for smaller gifting occasions.
